It begins with 4 words, four words that may very well change the lives of people everywhere:
My name is Jake.
These four words launch the series adored by people of all ages, elementary kids to college! (I should know...I am a HS freshmen :-P). Beyond those words, we are brought into the word of 5 ordinary kids...or rather they were ordinary, until they made that fateful decision to take the shortcut home from the Mall.
Jake, Marco, Cassie, Rachel, and Tobias walked through the construction site expecting to take time off the walk home, instead they caught up with an injured prince. This war prince, Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, gives the teens the power to morph. In his last moments of life, he gives them the ability to become any animal they touch...but there is a price, Tobias learns this the hard way. With this power, these five children must stop the invasion of a parasitic species called the Yeerks. Five kids vs. and entire race...is it a hopeless cause?
From this point on action escalates. The group of teens meet up with the late Elfangor's brother, make allies with androids, are forced to change history, face death, meet beings above the 3rd dimension, and experience secrets that bring them together and nearly pull them apart.
Animorphs may only be a 5th grade reading level, but the story is so much more. People put it down as being a children's book, but it is far more captivating. KAA and her ghost writers did an amazing job in writing the series, even the worst of the books excel.
